Job Description

Admissions Coordinator- with or without reasonable accommodations

Location: 390 Grant St. Denver, CO 80203

Schedule: Thursday- Monday 10:00 AM-7:00 PM

 Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Processes referrals using the Agency's established procedures and meeting quality and quantity performance standards. Enters data accurately into computer terminal as information is received via telephone, from physicians, hospital coordinators, clients, families and other sources. Asks callers clarifying questions to identify needs, verify demographic information, diagnosis, details on supplies, etc. Provides overview of agency services and recommends those consistent with clients' needs. Provides complete, accurate referral information to schedulers and other departments to ensure effective communication and efficient service delivery. Verifies insurance coverage, if applicable. Provides backup to Insurance Verification Coordinator as needed. Provides basic information on Durable Medical Equipment and makes referrals.

  • Acts as a customer service representative to internal and external clients, including patients, physicians, caregivers, coworkers, supervisors, etc. Communicates and responds to service requests by listening, clarifying, problem-solving and following up until resolution is achieved. Speaks clearly and listens effectively to caller, asking appropriate questions to provide service. Assists in scheduling weekend visits for referrals which are processed on Saturday or Sunday. Obtains information for caregivers who need current data. Uses professional customer service and telephone skills when dealing with ill or irate customers.

  • Applies knowledge of Agency resources to provide high quality customer service, by providing general overview of Agency services as specific program details to callers, participating in continuous quality efforts as appropriate, and recommending services which are consistent with patients' needs.


Job Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent required.

  • Minimum one year as a medical transcriptionist, admissions/intake coordinator, or other work experience in the medical field.

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities

  • Data entry skills to accurately input alpha numeric data into computer terminal.

  • Sufficient knowledge of medical terminology to understand and interpret physician's orders, written or spoken.

  • Excellent telephone communication in a setting with frequent background noise

  • Able to prioritize, coordinate, organize and handle multiple tasks at once, at a rapid pace.

  • Able to use excellent customer service skills in dealing with staff, managers, and clients.

  • Ability to understand and interpret physician's orders, written or spoken.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all business information.

  • Ability to write verbal or interim orders according to Agency policy.
